How are you managing your mental health?
With this Mental Health Awareness week drawing to a close, it is important to remember that it’s not just this week we should be focusing on our mental health, but every week.
There are plenty of things you can be doing to keep yourself mentally healthy. See below some tips to help;
Stay in contact: It’s really important to maintain contact with friends and family for both yourself and those you care about. Just a simple text message or WhatsApp to ask how someone is, lets them know you are there and thinking about them.
Homeworking: If you and your work team are currently working remotely – perhaps arrange a lunchtime ‘get together’ via video call every Wednesday for example, to check in and connect.
Exercise: Exercise is a great way to keep mentally healthy, make sure to fit activity, whatever that may be into your week.
Nourishment: Eat sufficient and healthy foods – there are so many great recipes and inspiration online – go and give something new a go!
Sunlight: We are enjoying some beautiful sunny, longer days right now – make sure to take some time enjoy it. Even with limited time in your schedule a 10-minute stroll early in the morning before starting work or in the evening can do wonders.
Sleep: Sleep is so important, and you can help to have a better night’s sleep by keeping to a bedtime routine.
Do things for others: It isn’t just good for the person you’re helping, it’s good for you too. You could try volunteering or just being neighborly.
Smile: Don’t underestimate the power of a smile, it could make the world of difference to someone and you.
